The LDSP1s-PV40-DC1000 is a Type 2 DC surge protective device designed for the DC side of photovoltaic systems.
It provides an In rating of 20kA, an Imax rating of 40kA and a voltage protection level of up to 3.8kV. The pluggable DIN-rail design includes visual status indication, internal thermal disconnection and an optional remote signalling contact.

Product Description

Surge protection device to prevent lightning surge voltage in low-voltage electrical system or solar energy system (photovoltaic power supply system). These devices must be installed in parallel on the low-voltage distribution system or DC power supply system to be protected, and provide common and different modes of protection. Its installation location is recommended to be located at the front end of the household side of the distribution system or at both ends of the DC power line (solar panel side and inverter/converter side), and equipped with matching circuit breakers or fuses

The LDSP1s-PV40-DC1000 is a Type 2 DC surge protective device developed for the DC side of photovoltaic systems.

It has a maximum continuous operating voltage of 1000V DC, a nominal discharge current of 20kA and a maximum discharge current of 40kA. In practical terms, it helps divert short-duration surge energy before that energy reaches sensitive equipment such as a solar inverter.


2. Is this DC SPD suitable for a 1000V solar PV system?

Yes, provided the system’s maximum continuous DC voltage does not exceed the SPD’s 1000V Ucpv rating.

That last point matters. A system described as “1000V PV” still needs to be checked against its actual maximum array voltage under the expected operating and temperature conditions. The SPD should be selected from the electrical design data, not from the inverter label alone.


3. What does Ucpv 1000V DC mean?

Ucpv is the maximum continuous operating voltage that the SPD is designed to withstand on the photovoltaic side.

Think of 1000V DC as the continuous-voltage ceiling for this model—not as its surge voltage and not simply as a marketing label. If the PV array can continuously rise above that value, a higher-voltage SPD variant should be used.
